Ray Charles Stay is a double LP compilation album by Ray Charles, launched by Atlantic Information in 1973.
It consists of stay live performance recordings beforehand launched on Ray Charles at Newport and Ray Charles in Individual (recorded on the Newport Jazz Competition in 1958 and at Herndon Stadium in Atlanta in 1959, respectively). Later CD re-issues of this compilation embody a further, beforehand unreleased, observe from the 1958 Newport live performance, “Swanee River Rock”.
Reception and legacy
The Penguin Information to Blues Recordings describes Ray Charles Stay as “a splendidly vivid stay album, no matter style.”[3]
Collage filmmaker Bruce Connor used the Herndon Stadium model of “What I might Say” on his 1962 movie Cosmic Ray[4][5][6][7][8][9]

A lot of the Herndon Stadium viewers response and the compere’s remaining feedback “… Ray Charles, the Excessive Priest — What a present! What a present!”, are clearly heard within the Ray Charles in Individual LP, however not evident within the CD launch.
