“One Step Forward” is a music by American soul singer Aretha Franklin. The one containing the music was launched by Columbia Information in 1965.[1] “One Step Forward” was the A-side of the only, and peaked at #18 on the Sizzling Rhythm & Blues Singles chart. The B-side, “I Cannot Wait Till I See My Child’s Face,” was taken from her 1964 album Runnin’ Out Of Fools. The one was launched two years earlier than Aretha achieved stardom when she joined Atlantic Information.
“One Step Forward” was not included on any of her Columbia studio albums, and stays one in all her rarest releases[2]
In 1999, hip-hop producer Ayatollah sampled its refrain for the “Ms. Fats Booty” single he produced for Mos Def.
The identical vocal half was sampled by Clutchy Hopkins for his “Sleepers By no means Dig, Diggers By no means Sleep Bootleg” and Excessive Distinction for his music “Remind Me”.
Use in films
